Fulltime Position, Hakuna Matata Child Care Centre, Mississauga

Hakuna Matata is a new day care facility that has been opened for almost 4 years.We are looking for a responsible, mature, knowledgeable, passionate and dedicated RECE or ECA who can promote an enriched classroom and who has an openness to learning and putting feedback into practice to positively impact the children in the preschool or toddler room.

They practice emergent curriculum using the ELECT document to further focus on individual developmental needs of each child.

We are looking for a responsible, mature, knowledgeable, passionate and dedicated RECE or ECA who can promote an enriched classroom and who has an openness to learning and putting feedback into practice to positively impact the children in the infant room.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • RECE diploma or degree

  • Min of 3 years work experience in the field with preference in working with toddlers and Preschool children

  • Knowledge of How does Learning happen and emergent curriculum for toddlers and preschool developmental ages.

  • Ability to work with parents, students and other staff in the room

  • Physically able to pick up a min of 40 lbs- strong back as working with toddlers may require a lot of picking up and putting down

  • Knowledge of how music and singing with toddlers and preschool age increases language skills- large repertoire of songs and finger plays appropriate for toddlers and preschool

  • Interpersonal skills

  • Warm and engaging with both children and parents

  • Nurturing, compassionate, empathetic

  • Team player

  • Ability to resolve conflicts in a professional manner

  • Ethical and has integrity

  • Good role model for young children

  • English skills are excellent and able to articulate clearly to model language for infants

  • Dedicated and goes above and beyond for the children and families in their care

  • Able to direct and mentor other staff in the room and educate parents

  • Calm in the face of chaos
